The project Micro-courses for Arctic Art Businesses focuses on developing a series of short, free, and practical micro-courses in business and economics for artists, cultural workers, producers, and technicians working in the creative sector.

To ensure the courses are useful and relevant, we need a better understanding of artists’ and cultural workers’ educational needs and interests. Artists and cultural practitioners are therefore invited to complete a short survey to map priority topics related to business skills and knowledge.

Through this educational initiative, the aim is to:

  • strengthen business skills and competencies within Arctic art and the creative sector
  • enhance the vitality of the Arctic economy and diversify livelihoods
  • support the growth of art and creative businesses
  • increase employment and income opportunities for Arctic artists through improved business knowledge

About the project

The project is carried out by the Business School at Nord University in collaboration with the Business School at the University of Akureyri, Faculty of Art at the University of Lapland and the Arctic Sustainable Arts and Design network.

The project Micro-courses for Arctic Art Businesses (2025–2027) is funded through the University of the Arctic (UArctic) by UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, supporting Arctic research, education, and collaboration among UArctic member institutions.

Responses to the survey are essential for the development of meaningful, accessible, and impactful learning opportunities for the Arctic creative community.
