The Arctic state institute of arts and culture (ASIAC) was established in 2000. Several branches of higher educational institutions such as the Krasnoyarsk State Institute of Culture, the Ural State Conservatory, the Moscow School-studio of Art and Theatre, and the East-Siberian State academy of Art and Culture were joined into one institution.

The institute has four faculties: the Faculty of Folklore and Ethno-Culture of the Peoples of the North, the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Faculty of Socio-Cultural Management and the Faculty of Performing Arts.

There are 4 faculties at the institute where 14 departments and 2 joint institute departments.

There are highly skilled teachers working at the Institute. Among them are 13 Doctors of Sciences, professors, 45 Candidates of Sciences, associate professors, 22 Arts and cultural figures who have honorary degrees from Russian Federation.

There are 496 full-time and 376 part-time students studying at 4 faculties. The institute makes state order on target preparation of specialists for Arctic regions of the Republic. The institute widens interregional affairs, there are students - representatives of indigenous peoples of the North (Dolgans, Koryaks, Evens, Evenks) from Khakassia, Altai, the Krasnoyarsk territory and the Kamchatka region studying at ASIAC. The institute develops creative, scientific-methods affairs with leading higher education institutions of Russia.
